MLP Preparatory Program

Overview

The MLP Preparatory Program prepares MARA-sponsored students for academic life in China, specifically for progression to Shanghai Jiao Tong University or any other higher education institution in China. It is a substantial, in-person course that builds the level of Mandarin needed to study in a Chinese-language environment.

Who it is for

• MARA-sponsored students selected for study in China
• Students preparing for entry to Shanghai Jiao Tong University or any other higher education institution in China

Program structure

• Minimum 5 months – maximum 6 months of physical classes at KPMB
• 140 – 240 hours in total, varying by HSK level
• Delivered face-to-face in a structured academic setting

Learning focus

The program is organised around two proficiency destinations:

• Intermediate proficiency — HSK Levels 3 and 4
• Advanced proficiency — HSK Levels 5 and 6

Outcomes

• Reach the HSK level required by your placement
• Handle academic listening, reading and writing in Mandarin
• Adapt confidently to study and daily life in China
